Steve writes creative non-fiction, reviews, blog posts, interviews, and other assorted ephemera. He’s the winner (with Deonna Kelli Sayed) of the 2017 Association of Alternative Media US/Canada Award for Best LGBT coverage for the Out in the South series in Yes!Weekly. He also won both First and Second place for Best Multimedia Project (with Deonna Kelli Sayed) from the North Carolina Press Association. First Place for Out in the South and Second place for Thinking Outside the Coffin. His non-fiction has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
