A Mirror Box is an instrument used in therapy, often for amputees experiencing phantom pain. By watching the reflection of their healthy limb in the position of the one they have lost, subjects can often alleviate the pain they feel in the phantom limb.
In the Mirrorbox series, I want to look at how film, and the other arts, reflect back to us something we see as missing, or not present enough, in our lives, allowing us to experience ourselves as more complete.
Mirrorbox combines memoir with film criticism by examining films important to me, for whatever reason, at different moments in my life.
